All non-sub Saharan people today carry Neanderthal DNA, anywhere between 1 and 4 percent. It may sound like a lot but paleoanthropologists believe the mating between modern humans and Neanderthals only happened a few times, but since our population was so small the Neanderthal DNA quickly spread throughout the rest of humanity as our populations grew.
