The only thing that has decreased carbon emissions in the last 13,000 years since the dawn of agriculture was the formation of the Mongol Empire by Genghis Khan; he killed so many people (perhaps 100 million) and so much farm land turned back into forest, emissions actually went down, but that didn’t last for too long.
