Hurling

Hurling is the national sport of Ireland, not to be confused with curling. Hurling is a classic stick and ball game, but very well might be the predecessor to all other stick and ball games today. It has been played in Ireland for over 3,000 years, and you can see elements of modern-day field hockey, soccer, baseball and rugby played within it. In hurling, a player uses an axe shaped stick called a hurley to hit a ball called a sliotar either over a crossbar for one point or through a goal guarded by a keeper for 3 points. The best part of this is that a player can only run for 4 steps with the ball in their hand, afterwards they have to run balancing the ball on the end of their stick. Check it out it is a fantastic game.
