Pronghorn antelopes of the western US, Mexico and Canada are not an antelope, their closest relatives are actually giraffes. They are the 2nd fastest land animals in the world behind cheetahs. That’s because there used to be an American cheetah species that went extinct at the end of the last ice age while the pronghorn did not, but pronghorns have still kept this evolutionary niche for running. But, pronghorns are terrible jumpers, they simply don’t need to in their open environments absent of trees.
