The K-T boundary is the very thin layer where the dinosaurs go extinct 66 million years ago. It stands for the Cretaceous-Tertiary Boundary. You may have noticed Cretaceous does not begin with a K, that’s because the abbreviation C was already taken by the earlier time period Carboniferous.
