Mines near the Swedish village of Ytterby (pronounced “it-ter-bee) on the island of Resarö in the Stockhold archipelago have yielded the geological sources of 10 different chemical elements with 4 of them are named after this small village: Yttrium (Y) #39, Ytterbium (Yb) #70, Terbium (Tb) #65 and Erbium (Er) #68. The other elements discovered in the Ytterby mine are Scandium (Sc) #21, Gadolinium (Gd) #64, Dysprosium (Dy) #66, Holmium (Ho) #67, Thulium (Tm) #69 and Lutetium (Lu) #71.
